According to the Zhitong Finance APP, on October 18th, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles issued
a statement stating that according to Chinese customs statistics, from January to August, China's clothing (including clothing accessories,
the same below) accumulated exports of 104.85 billion US dollars, a slight decrease of 0.8% year-on-year. In August, exports amounted to
15.73 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2%, narrowing the export decline by 1.6 percentage points compared to July.
Continued increase in export volume and downward trend in price
From January to August, the export volume of knitted and woven clothing increased by over 12% year-on-year,
but the unit price decreased significantly. Knitted clothing exports amounted to 47.9 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%;
The export quantity was 15.46 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%; The export price decreased by 8.3% year-on-year.
Woven clothing exports amounted to 43.3 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 4.8%; The export quantity was 9.17 billion pieces,
a year-on-year increase of 12.7%; The export price decreased by 15.5% year-on-year. Clothing accessories exports amounted to 10.28 billion US dollars,
a year-on-year decrease of 2.9%. This year's clothing exports continue the trend of "increasing quantity and decreasing price".
From the data of August alone, there is an expanding trend of unit price decline compared to previous months.
The unit prices of knitted and woven clothing in August fell by 11.2% and 18.1% respectively.
